Anthony Willie Gutierrez, III, 48, a resident of Alcalde, passed away following a lengthy illness on Monday, February 3, 2014. Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Willie J. Gutierrez, Jr.; grandparents, Eutimio and Monica Brito, Willie and Katie Gutierrez; mother-in-law, Fidelia Serrano, as well as other loving relatives. Anthony served in the U.S. Armed Forces in 1983-1987, his hobbies were restoring old cars, fishing, and loved being around his family, and he lived his life to the fullest. Anthony is survived by his wife, Evelyn Gutierrez of Alcalde; children, Matthew Garcia of Alcalde, Michael Garcia and fiancé, Ashley Espinoza of Albuquerque, Rebecca Gutierrez of Alcalde, Jazmyn Gutierrez and companion Elias Lujan of Alcalde; mother, Frances Gutierrez of Albuquerque; father-in-law, Benicio Serrano and wife Mary of Española; sister, Virginia Gutierrez of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Dorothy Vigil and husband Daniel of El Rito, brother-in-law, Benny Serrano and wife Angie of Abiquiu, Ronnie Serrano of El Rito, Fidel Serrano and wife Prescilla of Abiquiu, and Grace Serrano of Las Vegas, Nevada; very special aunts and uncles, Rita Sedillo of Albuquerque, Margarito and Angie Sedillo of Placitas, Crestella and Richard Ellis of Rio Rancho, Lucy Valdez of Cañones, and Rita and Ken Hern of Albuquerque; special cousin, Monica Cordova and family of Bernalillo, as well as numerous other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Santo Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu. Burial to take place on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Fidel Serrano, Jr., Juan Nevarez, Kenneth Hern, Bill Sedillo, Jason Minturn, Fidel Serrano, Sr., Dennis Sedillo, and Ronnie Serrano, Jr. Honorary pallbearers names are Felipe Cordova, Joe Garcia, Joe Joe Aragon, Brandon Serrano, and Larissa Mendoza.
