Anthony Velasquez

Anthony P. Velasquez, 32, a resident of Abiquiu, NM, passed away on February 24, 2025. 

Anthony was preceded in death by his father Margarito Velasquez; sister Nicole Martinez; aunt Esther Padilla; paternal great grandparents Margarito and Soledad Velasquez, Emiliano and Andalesia Lopez and maternal grandfather Seledon Garcia; maternal great grandparents Benjamin and Beatrice Garica and Jose D. and Mary Herrera. 

Anthony is survived by his mother Sharon Garcia (David Gallion); sister Danielle Velasquez; nephew John LaFon; niece Allena LaFon; uncle Joseph Garcia; cousins Tristin and Mateo Garcia, Derrick Martinez; maternal grandmother Alice Garcia; paternal grandmother Molly Velasquez (Charlie Martinez); paternal grandfather Leonard Velasquez; aunt Victoria Velasquez; cousins Josiah Gonzales, Briana and Joshua Padilla and Desiree Gonzales and uncle Aaron Velasquez. 

In his young life, Anthony worked with his grandfather’s, uncle’s and cousin’s construction companies and was a valuable employee. He assisted with running the family’s cattle ranch. Anthony was always available to help anyone that needed him. It has been evident how highly he was regarded by the outpouring of sympathy messages, calls, cards and visits. 

A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Santo Tomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu, NM, followed by a Memorial Mass at 12:00 noon, and graveside burial will follow. 

Serving the family as Honorary Pallbearers are Joseph, Tristin and Mateo Garcia, John LaFon, David Gallion and Derrick Martinez.
