Anita S. Age - 101 - Española Martinez

Anita S. Martinez, 101, a lifelong resident of Española peacefully passed away with her son at her side on Sunday, January 22, 2012. She was a founding member of Sacred Heart Altar Society. She was extremely active and a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Her life revolved around the church and family. Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Tony V. Martinez; daughters: Viola Teresa Martinez, Evangeline Baca; daughter-in-law, Mary M. Martinez; granddaughter, Annabelle Martinez-Wooten; parents, Candido and Rafaelita Salazar; paternal parents, Adam and Elaiza Martinez; sisters: Antonia (Santiago) Fresquez, Lugardita (Manuel D.) Rodriguez, Maria (Alfredo) Vigil; brothers: Enrique (Adelaida) Salazar, Lupito Salazar; brothers-in-law: Henry (Margaret) Martinez, Ramon “Tito” (Ruperta) Martinez, Jose (Dora) Martinez; sisters-in-law: Aurora (Carlos) Martinez, Celina (Barnabe) Herrera, Josephine (Meliton) Garcia, Ruby (Joe) Rubidoeaux, Ernestine (Ben) Mitchell; several nieces and nephews. Anita is survived by her son, Richard (R.A.) Martinez; grandchildren: Rodolfo (Arlene) Baca, Carlos Baca, Joaquin (Mindy) Baca, Maria Carmen Vahtel, Javier (Beth) Baca, Kevin Wooten, Charlene Baca; son-in-law, Deacon Rudolph (Juanita) Baca; great-grandchildren: Angelica, Stephanie, Estevan, Isaac, Sophia, Mariana, Mikaela, Lilia and Samantha Baca, E’lan and Eryn Wooten; many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Española with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with burial to follow at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Rodolfo and Joaquin Baca, Maria Vahtel, Javier Baca, Danny Otero, Kevin Wooten, Carlos Baca. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Sacred Heart Society.
