ANITA DELGADO, 103, a resident of Santa Cruz, went to be with Our Lord on Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Anita was preceded in death by her father, Jose Maria Espinoza, mother, Agapita Herrera Espinoza both of El Llano; son, Louie Delgado; grandchildren, Brenda Ebert and Nicholas Apodaca; sisters, Veva Martinez, Elena Rodriguez and Tina Salazar, brothers, Jose Marie Espinoza Jr., Jacobo Espinoza and Juanito Espinoza. She was born to Agapita Herrera and Jose Maria Espinoza in the Village of El Llano. Anita was second to the eldest of her siblings in a family of eight. In her junior high years she felt the need to help her father with family expenses so she dropped out of school to seek employment in Espanola. It was there she met her husband Louis Jose Delgado and they married on December 26, 1932. They had four children, Irene, Louie, Chris and Sammy. Then in 1950 she was blessed with her baby boy Anthony. As her children grew up and each went their separate way, she always had a place to visit, when she felt like traveling. She got to experience the main attractions and more of each place she visited. All this was done in the company of her children and grandchildren. These were the times she was the happiest. Anita was the type of person who was always ready to accompany her friends, and relatives anytime they need a traveling companion. She was an excellent back seat driver. Anita spent the last two months in Albuquerque at Monzano Del Sol Nursing home. She is survived by her children, Irene (Ben) Maestas, Chris (Pearl) Delgado, Samuel (Linn) Delgado, and Anthony Martinez; sisters, Belen Vigil, Charlotte Arguello; brother-in-law, Arturo Salazar; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. A public visitation will begin on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a rosary to be recited at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
