ANITA FERNANDEZ, a resident of Chimayo went to be with the Lord peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 25, 2014.\r\nAnita was preceded in death by her parents, Florentino DeAguero and Juanita Montoya; brother, Oracio DeAguero; sisters, Gloria Trujillo and Priscilla Padilla; children, Herman, Joann, and Jackie Fernandez; husbands, Melcor Fernandez and Louie Martinez; in-laws, Atanacio and Bernardita Fernandez, Luis and Emma Martinez; brothers-in-law, Carmen Trujillo, Alfonso Padilla, Epifanio Velarde, Gilbert and Avenicio Fernandez.\r\nAnita was a woman of great faith and the heart of her family; she shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. She loved to spend time with family and friends. She was a loving, caring person, and always willing to help and put others needs before her own. She was a person with a huge heart who opened her home to a total of 69 foster kids.\r\nMrs. Fernandez is survived by her children, Ruben Martinez (Muriah Snider), Anthony Fernandez, Melissa Martinez (Marisa Roybal); grandchildren, Mariah Trujillo, Randy “TJ” Trujillo (Lydia Serrano), Jaylen, Anthony and Andrew Martinez; great-grandchildren, Lilliana Trujillo, CJ, Alyssa, and Urijah Martinez, and Mya Lorretto; sisters, Terecina Velarde, Benilde DeAguero (Arturo Chavez); brother, Elifar DeAguero (Cornelia); in-laws, Geneva Fernandez, Maxine Cordova (Danny), Stella Vigil (Felix), Oralia Fernandez and a very close brother-in-law, Mereciano Fernandez and numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Victory Faith Church in Espanola, with a burial to follow at a later date. Serving the family as pallbearers, Randy “TJ” Trujillo, Andrew Martinez, Anthony Martinez, Mariah Trujillo, Jaylen Martinez, Merenciano Fernandez, Archie Trujillo, and Randy Trujillo. Honorary pallbearers named: Lilliana Trujillo, CJ Martinez, Urijah Martinez, Alyssa Martinez, Mya Lorretto, Hailey Guinn, Aiden Guinn, and Cameron Guinn. The family of Anita Fernandez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
