Aniceto - Age 88 - El Rito Alire

Aniceto Alire – Age 88 a lifelong resident of El Rito passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2011 following a long illness. He was a World War II Veteran where he earned the medals of Purple Heart, Bronze Service Star And the Good Conduct Ribbon. Mr. Alire worked for the School District and for the Forest Service for many years. He was preceded in death by his father and mother: Narciso and Margarita Alire; brother, Jose Alire; son, Larry Alire; grandson, Larry N. Ocaña; and mother and father-in-law: Tomas and Todosia Marquez. He is survived by his beloved family, his wife, Juanita; daughters: Gloria Martinez (Juan), Sylvia Ocaña (Tommy), Joanne Ocaña (Nick) and Dina Alire (Chris); sons: Toby (Marie), Andrew (Carla); and Michael of the home; sister, Frances Jaramillo (Horace) of Albuquerque; 10 grandchildren: Peggy, Jennifer, Sharon, Jeremy, Diana, Joseph, Monique, Candace, Michael Jr. and Bianca; eight great-grandchildren; brother and sisters-in-law: Max Marquez (Vangie), Tomas Marquez (Linda); Celia Trujillo (Mike), Amelia Trujillo (Joe, deceased), Grace Martinez (Robert), Mary Vigil (Leonard) and Marcelina Gallegos (Mike, deceased); and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 2:15 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Jimmy Alire, Joseph Jaramillo, Johnny Ortiz, Maroni Herrera, Maranio Trujillo, Jeremy Alire, Clyde Martinez and Elmer Manzanares. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family of Aniceto Alire has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
