Angie M. Garcia, 81, a lifelong resident of Tierra Amarilla, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020 peacefully, surrounded by her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents Phil and Estella Montano, brothers Leroy and Carlos, and husband Tito Garcia of 56 years.  Mrs. Garcia was born and raised in Las Nutrias and graduated from Tierra Amarilla High School in 1957.  She worked in various positions including Superintendent secretary for the Chama Valley School District and went on to become a Board of Education member.  She also worked as the Rio Arriba County Deputy Assessor and Indigent Fund Administrator.  Mrs. Garcia was a devoted wife and mother of 6, an active member of Santo Nino Catholic Church, taught Catechism, and with her husband, served as Mayordomos.  She enjoyed a passion for traveling with friends and family.  Her journeys included trips to Japan, Panama, England, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, and Israel.  She was an avid Steelers fan and never missed a game.  She was well known for her compassion, generosity, hosting out-of-town visitors, and praying Novenas and lighting Lamparitas for those in need.  Mrs. Garcia will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.  She is survived by her children Denise G. Terrazas, Dennis Garcia (Eileen), Samuel Garcia (Geneva), Susan Martinez (Joseph), Arleen Lopez (Isaias), and Andres Garcia (Melissa), 14 Grandchildren, 12 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, and numerous other loving relatives and friends.

Public visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4,2020 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Angie’s funeral mass will be limited to her children, Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, and Great-Great-Grandchildren.  Serving as Pall Bearers will be her Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grandchildren.
