Angelina Maestas

Angelina S. Maestas “Angie”, 86, a resident of Chili, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 8, 2018. Angie was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael D. Maestas; parents, Gregorio and Josefita Salazar; siblings, Prisciliana Garcia (Amarante), Eufemia Maestas (Santiago) and Gregorio Salazar (Onofre);  first husband and father of her children, Jose Benito Maestas; late husband, Jose L. Duran; beloved nephew, Arnoldo Jerry Garcia. Angie retired from the Española Public School District and was a very successful caterer and cake decorator. Angie is survived by her children, Mary Lillian Maestas (Larry Martinez) and Joseph H. Maestas (Veronica); dearly loved granddaughters, AnnaLisa and Georgette Maestas and Marisol Martinez; dearly loved cousin, Alfonso Martinez; grandchildren, Benito Maestas (Yvonne), Myra Martinez (Tim) and Waylon Maestas (Camille); great-grandchildren, BJ Maestas, Brandon Martinez, Alicia Martinez and Christopher and Michael Maestas; nieces who she adored, Simmie Reyes (George Mejia) and Pita Salazar (Lorenzo Quintana); two life-long, dearly loved friends, Locaria “Lou” Jaramillo and Laura Martinez; caregivers, Evangelina and Gloria and numerous relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with burial to follow at the San Antonio Cemetery in Medanales. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Alfonso Martinez, Clyde Martinez, Lionel Maestas, Ray Ortiz, Larry Martinez and Waylon Maestas. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Martinez, Cordilia Coronado and Georgia Serrano. The family of Angelina S. Maestas “Angie” has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
