Andrew Kossar, 84, a resident of Los Alamos passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max Kossar and Pearl Dennis of Shenandoah, PA. Andy served his country as a Korean War Veteran and was honorably discharged from both Air Force and U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Post 8874. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree council 3137 Los Alamos. Andy was awarded a trophy and plaque for highest membership drive for the Knights of Columbus. He was a lifetime member of American Legion, VFW and Knights of Columbus. Andy is survived by his wife, Nancy Kossar of Los Alamos, NM; daughter, Mary Anne Desalme and husband John of San Antonio, TX; son, Andy D. Kossar of Boise, ID; grandchildren: Natalie Kossar of Chicago, IL, Anthony “Tony” Kossar and wife Heather of Albuquerque; son, Paul Kossar and wife Debbie of Caldwell, ID; grandchildren: Steven of Caldwell, ID, Amber of Colorado; great-grandchildren: Bailey and Zoey of Colorado; son, Joseph Kossar and wife Jodi of Olathe, KS; grandchildren: William and Wes of Olathe, KS. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos with burial to follow at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos. The family of Andrew Kossar have entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
