Anabelle C. War, 49, a resident of Española, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2014, after a lengthy illness surrounded by her loving family. Anabelle was preceded in death by her grandparents, Margarito and Sirila War, Ana Maria and Agapito Madrid; close aunt, Orsinia Lopez; a very close cousin who she considered a brother, Bobby Lopez, and cousin Benny Lopez. Anabelle was a joyous, happy, and humorous person. She had a wonderful smile and laughter which she displayed constantly. She loved life and enjoyed the many friends she had. Anabelle graduated from Española Valley High School, and continued her education at the Northern New Mexico Community College, where she received a scholarship and earned an Associate’s Degree in the interim where she worked at the Hacienda Home Center, Triple S Convenience Store, Los Alamos National Bank, and eventually became a permanent employee at Los Alamos for Pan Am, KSL, and Johnson Control. Several years ago she transitioned into the current Los Alamos National Security. Anabelle was recognized for over 30 years of loyal and devoted service at Los Alamos. Anabelle was adventurous, daring, and was always looking for new experiences in her life. As a very young adult she traveled to Spain, Madrid, Rome, Venice, Salzburg, and Munich. She also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and Mazatlan. Aside from traveling, Anabelle enjoyed camping, fishing, and yes hunting. She also enjoyed gathering with family and friends, listening to Bobby play guitar, her Dad play harmonica, and everyone had a blast singing along. Anabelle is survived by her fiancé Joseph C. Gonzales; her loving parents, Arsenio and Isabel War; her very beloved and only brother, Jose “Archie” War; nephews Elias, Fernando, and Daniel Ray War; God son, Eric, and Darin Lopez; great niece, Keanna and great nephew, Dominic War; special cousin, Lydia, and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Anabelle will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Public visitation will begin on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española, with a burial to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, with the following serving as pallbearers, Elias, Fernando, Daniel Ray War, Tomas Lopez, Manuel Quintana Jr., EZ Madrid, honorary pallbearers Eric and Darin Lopez, and Keanna and Dominic War. The family of Anabelle C. War has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
