Amanda Sherwood

Amanda Christie Sherwood , Age 35 of Chimayo went home to be with the Lord and welcomed into heaven on August 20th,2022.

She was born on Feburary 26, 1987 to John and Carlene Sherwood. Amanda was a beloved mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, nina, and friend. Amanda was a loving mother to her two beautiful daughters Aliyah and Jonnae Atencio and son-in-law Gabriel Romero who she adored so much. Amanda fell in love with the father of her children, Andrew Atencio in the 8th grade and they were together for 19yrs.

Amanda was fiercely loved by her family and friends. She loved being around everyone dancing, singing, and laughing. She loved listening to music especially Spanish. Amanda had a great sense of humor , always smiling. She enjoyed cruising, going to lowrider car shows and eating out, especially at El Parasol.

Amanda was preceded in death by her father John Sherwood, Uncle Chris Sherwood, cousin Vanessa Sherwood, Great Grandparents Max and Louise Esquibel,  Frank and Julia Medina Fabian and Josie Madrid, close cousin Justin Sanchez and Godfather Gerald Martinez.

Amanda was survived by her mother Carlene Sherwood and companion Matthew Marquez, Daughters; Aliyah and Jonnae Atencio, Father of her children Andrew Atencio, paternal Grandparents Earl and Irene Sherwood maternal Grandparents Ruby and Frank Medina. Sisters; Kaylene Sherwood (Jessie), Jacquelyn Sherwood (Ambrose Sr.) Nina; Vangie Tso Olivas. Uncle Marty Sherwood who was like a brother to her other uncles and aunts Chenee Sherwood, Yvette Medina (Larry), Yvonne Medina. Nieces; Jaylynn and Jazlynn Nephew; Jessie Jr.
Nephew/Godson; Ambrose Jr. and many other relatives, friends and family members from the Atencio/Barela Family.

Pallbearers; Donnie Martinez, Dominick Sherwoood, Carlos Esquibel, Jacob Tso Olivas, Matthew Martinez, Tashina Bustos, Leroy Atencio Sr. and Xavier Atencio.

A rosary will take place on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Holy Family Church in Chimayo, NM at 9:00a.m. and mass of Christian burial at 10:00a.m. and burial to follow at Nuestra de Dolores.
