Amado E Martinez Jr.

Amado E Martinez Jr., a resident of Velarde, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on December 6, 2024. 

Amado was preceded in death by his parents Amado Martinez Sr and Ermelinda Vigil-Martinez; father and mother-In-law Frank and Calicia Medina; sons Christopher and Daniel Martinez; grandson John David Romero Jr.; brother Gilbert Martinez and sister Josie Mudgett; sisters-in-law Betty Reynolds and Marcella Medina; brother-in-law Clarence Medina Sr., Eloy Salazar, and Larry Mudgett; nephews Chris Reynolds, Jerome Reynolds, Clarence Medina Jr., and nieces Connie Reynolds and Laverne Medina. May their souls rest in peace.

Amado is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Helen Martinez; daughter Jacqueline Martinez; granddaughter who was like his own daughter, Alexandria Garcia and husband Adrian; great granddaughter Adrianiyah Garcia and great grandson Damián Garcia; sister Aurelia Salazar; sisters-in-law Lorraine Martinez, Dolores Sherman and husband David, Josie Medina and brother in law Charley Reynolds; nephews Franklin Salazar and wife Sandra, Floyd Salazar and wife Irene, Carl Salazar and wife Bonnie, and Andrew Mudgett; Nieces Florence Medina and husband Ignacio, Myra Martinez and husband Paul, Carla Lowe and husband Pete, and Ellen Wenzinger and husband Joe. Amado is also survived by many other cherished nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. 

Amado served in the Air Force and worked for Johnson Control in Los Alamos NM for 26 years. After retirement, he spent every single moment with his loving wife Helen, traveling to different states. Amado loved to always work around the house and cared so deeply for his wife, daughter, granddaughter, grandson and great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers to take Amado to his resting place are Adrian Garcia, Franklin Salazar, Floyd Salazar, Carl Salazar, Carey Martinez, Paul Martinez and Pete Lowe. 

Honorary Pallbearers are Alexandria, Adrianiyah and Damián Garcia

A Rosary will be recited on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 6:00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde, NM.  Mass will be on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde, NM, with burial to follow at 2:00 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
