Alvin Martinez

ALVIN (BINO) MARTINEZ, 46, a resident of Espanola/Hernandez, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 4, 2018 surrounded by his loving family and friends. Alvin was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Tony Garcia; step father, Fidel (Fiddles) Martinez; uncle, Fernando (Fern) Garcia; cousins, Patrick Martinez, special close cousin whom he loved dearly Steve Garcia, and John Lucero; paternal grandparents, Baltazar and Beroniz Olivas, Carlos Martinez, paternal aunt, Lillian Corona, paternal uncles, Robert Trujillo, Louie Padilla; paternal step-brother and sister, Margarito Velasquez and Esther Padilla. Alvin was a state wrestling champ and went to Pennsylvania for the Nationals and is considered an all American. He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather and great-friend. His greatest thing was being with his kids, family and friends. He enjoyed being out in the Hills, hunting, fishing and camping and hanging out with everyone. He played softball in New Mexico and Colorado. He also worked for Cooks Transit as a Mechanic’s helper at the age of 16, Duke City Lumber, S.G. Western and in Texas Construction for PTLA for quite a few years. Alvin is survived by his loving mother, Rosita (Rose) Martinez of Hernandez; loving father, Charlie Martinez and wife Molly of Abiquiu; his only sister, Charlene Padilla and husband David; his only niece, Aieshah; son, Carlitos Martinez, daughters, Erika Martinez and fiancé, Jonathan Salcido, Kayla and fiancé, Mathew Gallegos; step sister Victoria Velasquez and family; his fiancé, Pearl Martinez, and her children, David Ray, Javy, Amber, Justin and Jazmine; two step-grandchildren whom he helped raise Aiden and Annaliah; three loving grandboys, Jayden, Noah, Jeriah, and Karen Martinez mother of his children; maternal grandmother, Antonia Garcia of Hernandez; maternal aunts and uncles, Leroy Garcia and wife Linda of Hernandez, Isaac Garcia and wife Lucy of Espanola, Brenda Garcia of El Rito, Jane Sandoval and husband George of Hernandez Irene Romero and husband Lee of Truchas, Anthony Garcia and Ted, Anita Guerra and husband Geraldo, Vicky Martinez and companion Jesus of San Pedro, Manuel Garcia whom he considered a very close brother and wife, Elvia of Espanola; special and close cousin Iky Garcia and wife Crystal and Cory Lewis and companion Tracy a very close friend Jesse Herrera and Ernesto Terrazas; paternal uncles and aunts, Mary Sandoval and husband George of Mora, Baltita Olivas and wife Della of Holman, Berna Trujillo of Cleveland, NM, Matilda Padilla and husband Andy of Mora and Adolfo Olivas. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez, with a burial to follow at the San Jose Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Clyde, Nieto, Jesse, Tio Manuel, Cory Lewis, and Ernesto; honorary pallbearers will be, Ann and Andy Gutierrez, Aieshah, Jeriah, Jaydn, Noah, Ayden, Annaliah, Ray Morales, Anthony Vigil, Daniel Gutierrez, David Padilla, Matthew Gallegos, Isaac Garcia and Jonathan Salcido.  The family of Alvin (Bino) Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477-www.devargasfuneral.com
