Alvaro, 62, a resident of Hernandez, NM, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandpa (Pampo).

Alvaro was known for his kind heart, sense of humor, and hard work. He loved spending time with all of his grandkids, especially Paul. He enjoyed taking Paul to school, dancing, listening to music, teaching him Spanish, riding in the trucks, and fighting with him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ramon Garcia and Margarita Ontiveros-Castaneda, in-laws Paul Salazar, Tony and Donelia Griego; brother-in-law Eppie Griego and sister-in-law Gloria Salazar.

Alvaro is survived by his wife, Martha Garcia; children Henry Trujillo and wife Tiffany, Veronica Garcia and Alvaro Garcia Jr., brothers Nestor Garcia, Santos Garcia and Jesus Ontiveros; sisters Maria Garcia de Trevino, Amalia Garcia, Sandra Ontiveros, Alma Waters, Lilliana Perez and Brenda Ontiveros; grandchildren Riana Martinez, Alena, Celestino and Paul Trujillo, Sonia and Erik Campos, Lilyana, Triny, Dozene, Isaiah, and Alonzo Garcia, and many other family and friends.

Services will be held at the San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez, NM - day and time to be announced.

Serving as Pallbearers are Henry Trujillo, Leopoldo Salazar, Adan Hernandez, Harold Vigil, Carlos Perez and Curtis Waters.

Honorary Pallbearers are Paul Trujillo, Celestino Trujillo, Alena Trujillo, Riana Martinez, Erick Hernandez, Johnathon Hernandez, and Sandy Ontiveros Vinson.

We greatly appreciate all the prayers, phone calls, visits, donations, and the support we’ve received from family and friends during this very difficult time. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
