Allen Jerome Fernandez Sr.

Allen Fernandez was born June 11, 1962, to Leo and Julia Fernandez in Grants, New Mexico. 

He grew up in Rio Lucio and graduated from Penasco High School. Allen loved being in the mountains, where he would hunt and fish. He married the love of his life Sharon Fernandez on December 20, 1986, and started their family. Allen had a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand to everyone. 

Allen was preceded in death by his father Leo F. Fernandez Sr., father-in-law Juan Romero, sisters-in-law Norma Fernandez and Kathy Mascarenas, uncle Nick Romero, son-in-law Shane Arguello. 

Allen is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sharon, and his children, Allyson, Allen Jr. (Melissa), and Timothy Fernandez. He also leaves behind his granddaughter, Estrella Fernandez, whom he loved and adored; mother Julia Fernandez; mother-in-law Georgina Romero; siblings Leo Fernandez Jr., Jane Fernandez, Joseph Patrick Fernandez, Lorrie Romero (husband Joe); brothers-in-law Eddie Romero and Juan Andres Romero (wife Carla); nieces and nephews Randie Kroshus, Denise Fernandez, Christella Fernandez (Zhavonne), Norman Fernandez (Veronica), Brianna Sanchez, Anthony Sanchez, Joseph Fernandez (wife Esperanza), Andre Fernandez, Leandra, DeDe, Joe and Alexzandra Romero, Jeremiah Romero, and many more loved relatives and friends. Serving as his pallbearers his nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at DeVargas Funeral Home, Espanola, NM, with burial to follow at Rio Lucio Cemetery. After the burial, a Celebration of Life and a meal will be held at the Penasco Community Center.
