ALICIA G. MARTINEZ, 80, a resident of Peñasco, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victoriano and Estefanita Gonzales; brothers, Eustaqio, and Michael Gonzales, sister, Charlotta Gonzales; father and mother-in-law, Florencio and Edonila Martinez. Alicia was a cook at the Hot Lunch for Peñasco Public Schools where she retired from. She loved working on her garden. She was well known for her laughter, and was a very giving and loving person. She was her husband’s shadow and loved her grandchildren dearly. Alicia is survived by her husband, Joe E. Martinez Sr.; daughter, Mary Ann Esquibel, son, Ned and wife Dolores Martinez, Joe Jr. and wife Geraldine Martinez, daughter, Eileen and husband Frank Vigil; grandchildren, Chrystal, Tania, Lorrie, Cassie, Ned Jr., Christopher, Justin, Craig, Brandon and Jonathan, great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Isabella, Iliana, Santiago, Natasha, Taliyana, Sycalee, Jazmine and Rocky, great-great grandchild, Jayden; brothers and sisters, Ramona and husband Tranquelino Lopez, Rosa Gonzales, Joe Gonzales, Lawrence and wife Cecilia Gonzales, Otilia and husband Ike Polaco, Ermo and wife Liz Gonzales, Johnny and wife Eva Gonzales, Victor and wife Diana Gonzales, Bernie and wife Rose Gonzales, Liberato and wife Josie Gonzales, and sister-in-law, Ruth Gonzales. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Anthony’s de Padua Catholic Church in Peñasco, with a rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at the 10:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, with the following serving as pallbearers, Christopher Martinez, Justin Martinez, Craig Vigil, Brandon Vigil, Jonathan Vigil, Ned Martinez Jr., and David Gonzales.
