Alice Rosalda Salazar, 72, of Española, passed away peacefully at her home on June 7, 2024. She was born on July 1, 1951, to Apolinario and Adelires Trujillo.
She was preceded in death by her father Apolinario Trujillo, husband Andrew Salazar, brothers-in-law Jose Leandro "Lio" Archuleta and David Velasquez. Alice retired from the Eight Northern Indian Pueblo Council, after 31 years of service and would have continued if she had it her way. She loved her family dearly and often joked how she raised all her siblings. She had great cariño for her many nieces and nephews and was like a mother to many of them. She also had a deep, sincere care for her countless dear friends whom she loved as family. Alice prayed for her loved ones incessantly and had a sense of humor that was unmatched by any other. Alice loved feast days and having lunch dates with her friends. She especially enjoyed watching her Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Braves or listening to her favorite musicians such as Marco Antonio Solis, Elvis Presley and Dwight Yoakam with her best kitty Snowball. Alice was a bright, memorable spirit with an infectious laugh to match, and especially loved to lift others.
Alice is survived by her mother, Adelires Trujillo; sisters, Esther (Mark), Corrine Trujillo, Susan (Gilbert), and Carmen Velasques; brothers, Larry (Sylvia), Fernando, Jerome and Miguel (Amanda); nieces, Melannie, Clarabelle, Annabelle, Sandra, Stacey, Francine, Ashley, Letisha, Desiree, Laura, Cynthia, Melissa, and Celina; nephews, Lucas, Emilio, Fernando Jr., Jerome Jr, and Daniel; 34 great nieces and nephews and one on the way. The following will serve as pallbearers: Mark Mascareñas, Gilbert Torres, Daniel Velasquez, Lucas Archuleta, David Bustos, Peter Gonzales, Jose Archuleta, and Samuel Martinez. Honorary pallbearers are her hijados, and great nieces and nephews.
A public visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 5:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary to begin at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial to take place on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 12pm at Sacred Heart Church in Española, with burial following at the cemetery.
