Alfredo R. Cordova, age 93,a resident of Truchas, passed away peacefully on, Saturday, January 23, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grabielita Cordova; father and mother, Ignacio and Sara Cordova; great-granddaughter, Sherice Cordova; and brother, Estevan Cordova. Mr. Cordova was a renowned Weaver. He was invited to participate at National Folk Art Festival at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. He was a wood worker, a good Christian leader to his family and an Elder of Smith-Memorial Presbyterian Church. Alfredo is survived by his sons, Ignacio Cordova and wife Lydia of Corrales, Manuel Cordova and wife Bernice of Truchas, Willie Cordova and wife Lucy of Chimayo, and Harry Cordova and wife Leslee of Truchas; daughter, Yolanda Shoemate and husband David of Albuquerque; 11grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Public visitation will begin on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Smith-Memorial Presbyterian Church in Truchas, with burial to follow at the Llanitos Cemetery in Truchas. Assisting the family as pallbearers will be, Ignacio Cordova Jr., Paul Cordova, Leandro Cordova, Grabiel Cordova, James Shoemate and Juan Martinez.
