Alfredo J. Garcia, “Humphrey” 63, a resident of Española, passed away on Thursday, October, 9, 2014. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Lovato- Garcia; parents, Isabel and Genoveva Garcia; sisters, Delfinita Garcia, Cristerna Salazar, brother, Eligio Garcia; father-in-law, Evaristo Rivera. Mr. Garcia was enlisted in the U.S. Army for two years and then with the National Guard for twenty years and retired as a staff sergeant. He was employed with the Los Alamos National Laboratories for forty years until his retirement from there. He was a current member of the Sangre De Cristo Search and Rescue. His love of ranching was what he was well known for he will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Alfredo is survived by his wife, Imelda Garcia; son, Amos Garcia (Anna Lima), daughter, Veronica Garcia (Adam DeVargas); step-son, Felipe Ortega; step-daughters, Karina Ortega (Raphael), Jasmine Dominguez (Williams); brothers, Elipio Garcia Sr. (Antonia), Mizel Garcia Sr. (Nancy), Filimon Garcia (Nora), Finnie Garcia (Theresa), sisters, Belen Alaniz (Alfredo), Teresa Chacon (Johnny), Erlinda Garcia; mother-in-law, Francisca Herrera; brothers-in-law, Urbano, Evaristo, Fortino, Jesus, Hermon, and Juan Rivera, sisters-in-law, Yolanda, Sandra, Veronica, Claudia, Basilisa Rivera; grandchildren, Mariah, Christina, Selena, and Adam Jr. DeVargas, Leonardo Garcia; step-grandchildren, Felipe Ortega III, Kevin Ortega, Karina Ibarra, Marlene, Ibarra, Esmeralda and Natalie Dominguez. Public visitation will begin on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española. Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, with the following serving as pallbearers Peter Garcia, Felipe Ortega, Anthony Garcia, Jesus Rivera, Leonardo Garcia, and Adam DeVargas Jr. The family of Alfredo J.
