Alfonso H. Martinez, age 83, a resident of Riverside, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 19, 2016. Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by his wife, Rumalda; infant daughter, Loretta; step-son, Chris Archuleta; twin brother, Ramon; brother, Mike; sister Elisa Lopez; his parents, Ramon and Librada Martinez. Mr. Martinez served in the United States Army in Korea. He was a letter carrier for the United States Post Office in Los Alamos for 29 years. He also worked at the legislature for the State of New Mexico. He and his twin brother were known for their talented Masonry work. He is survived by his daughter, Angelica Martinez of Riverside; daughter, Carmella Martinez (Richard) of Sombrillo; grandson raised as a son, Daniel Cordova of Riverside; granddaughters, Elisha McDougal (Alex) of Las Cruces, JeAnna Martinez, and Naomi Valdez (Dean); grandsons, Chris Archuleta (Stella) and Nickolas Archuleta; Daughter – in – law, Louise Valdez; 8 great-grandchildren all of Denver; siblings, Lucille (Eloy) Maestas of Colorado Springs, Robert (Grace), Martha, Julia, Ben (Susie), Lillian and Clorinda. Public visitation will begin on Monday, May 30, 2016 at 6:00p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home, with a rosary to follow at 7:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 10:30a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with graveside services to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45p.m. Assisting as pallbearers will be Daniel Cordova, Robert Chavez, Chris and Nickolas Archuleta, Adonais Archuleta, and Juan Fernandez. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard (Dicky) Martinez, James Rowe and Alex McDougal. The family of Alfonso H.
