ALFONSO A. CHACON, 81, a resident of Alcalde, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 31, 2012 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Valentina Chacon; parents, Adelaido and Frutosa Chacon; sisters, Mary Lina Martinez and Reyes Rendon; in-laws, Alejandrino and Josefina Gallegos; sisters-in-law, Bernie Martinez, Rose Gallegos and Josephine Macarenas; brothers-in-law, Emilio Rendon and Sam Gallegos. Alfonso served in the US Army. He was an Hermano of the Confradia de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno in Alcalde for 60 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mr. Chacon is survived by his daughter, Mary Lina Tanuz and husband Victor of Alcalde; sisters, Candie Valdez and husband Joe of Riverside and Josie Guillen and companion Joe Leyba of Alcalde; nephew raised as a son, Richie Guillen and wife Lenora of Ohkay Owingeh; sister-in-law, Charlotte Martinez and husband Cipriano of Alcalde; brothers-in-law, Alex Gallegos of Alcalde and John Allen Gallegos and wife Florence of Alcalde and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial to follow at the Alcalde Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Richie and Michael Guillen, Raymond Valdez, Julie Morales, Jennifer Mondragon and Mark Rendon. Honorary pallbearers named: Hermanos of the Confradia de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno, Michael Rendon, Joe Leyba, Richard Guillen, Elizabeth Romero, Willie Espinoza, Richard Valdez and Joe Sanchez.
