ALEX SALAZAR, JR., 94, a resident of Guachupangue, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. He was preceded in death by his sons, Gilbert J. Salazar and Paul Richard Salazar; grandsons, Miguel and Kenny Salazar; daughters-in-law, Barbara and Rita Salazar; son-in-law, Richard Jamieson; parents, Alejandrino and Rosita Salazar; brothers, John D. and Sixto Salazar; sisters, Rosita Gallegos, Clara Graber and Ramona Nunez. Alex was known to many as a storyteller and joker. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and spending time with his family. Alex was a WWII Veteran, serving in the US Army Air Corp. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Salazar is survived by his wife, Miquelita Salazar of Guachupangue; children, Jeanette Jamieson of Aurora, CO, Virginia Salazar-Halfmoon and husband Otis of Arroyo Seco, Bernadette Frenier and husband Robert of Santa Fe, Mike Salazar and wife Sandra and Christopher Salazar all of Guachupangue; grandchildren, Richard Jamieson, Jennifer VandeVoorte, Kathy Salt, Deborah Segovia, Jerrold and Nathane Salazar, Tammy Olivas, Jeremy and Dustin Salazar, Kathleen Thomas, Ernest Frenier, Erykah Vigil and Crystal Garcia, Nelson and Lawrence Sisneros; daughter-in-law, Anita Salazar of La Mesilla and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and close relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at the Santa Clara Pueblo Catholic Church. Burial to follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family of Alex Salazar, Jr. has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
