Albert - Age 61 - Truchas Cordova, Jr -

ALBERT “BET” CORDOVA, JR., 61, a resident of Truchas, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Cordova, Sr.; father-in-law, Calletano C. Martinez and brother-in-law, Ruben Lopez. Albert had a natural bond with everyone and was always there when he was needed. He was a kind, loving and caring man who worked hard and took care of his family; his belief was that a man should provide for his wife and family, which is what he did to the very end. He loved making wood work for people and giving them as gifts and also constructed a cross for The Lighthouse Church in Chimayo. He shared his fruits and vegetables from his garden and was always known for making pineapple upside down cake for any occasion. Mr. Cordova is survived by his loving wife, Grace Cordova of Truchas; children, Elizabeth Squires and husband Donald of Taos, Karen Garcia and husband Fermin, Jr. of Sombrillo and Joseph Cordova and girlfriend Victoria of Truchas; grandchildren, Amber and Donald Squires and Briana and Destiny Garcia; mother, Cordelia Cordova; brothers and sisters, Max Cordova and wife Lillian of Truchas, William Cordova and wife Nena of Albuquerque, Sammy Cordova and wife Sandra of Truchas, Dicky Cordova and wife Diahan of Alcalde, Ricky Cordova and wife Adrina of Española, Melvin Cordova and wife Becky of Truchas, Margie Murrieta and husband Roger of Denver, CO, Darlene Montoya and husband Mike of Truchas and Christine Valdez and husband Karl of Española; mother-in-law, Audilia Martinez of Chimayo; brothers-in-law, David, Steve, Jake and Alan Martinez all of Chimayo; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Chavez and husband Peter of Española, Cleo Lopez of Cordova, Sylvia Gonzales and husband Bobby of Española and Carol Quintana and husband Roland of CO and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A devotional service will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at The Lighthouse Church in Chimayo. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. also at The Lighthouse Church in Chimayo. Burial to follow at the Llanitos Cemetery in Truchas with the following serving as pallbearers, Andrew Montoya, Max Isaac, Ricardo, Kris and Brandon Cordova and Steve Martinez. Honorary pallbearers named are, Jonathan Quintana, Ryan Gonzales, Jerome Cordova and Alan Martinez. The family of Albert “Bet” Cordova, Jr. has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
