Alan (Chops) Dale Tafoya, 57, a resident of Santa Clara, passed away following his battle with cancer on Friday, December 5, 2014. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Tafoya; grandmother, Lucaria Tafoya; grandpa, Jose Reyes Tafoya; plus close aunts and uncles. Alan was a firefighter by trade in Santa Clara Pueblo, known to his community members as a generous man. He loved his nieces and nephews and special nephew whom he raised like a son, Kenneth “Knutes” Tafoya. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Alan is survived by his loving mother, Rose Tafoya; sister, Clarissa Tafoya Roller and husband Tim Roller; nephews, Tyler and Kenneth Tafoya; niece, Jazmin; close cousin, Sherry Tafoya and numerous other relatives and friends. Transportation to family home will take place on December 7, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with a rosary and wake service to be recited at 7:00 p.m. also at the family home. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at Santa Clara Pueblo Catholic Church. Burial to follow at the Santa Clara Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Kenneth Tafoya, Tyler Roller, Lucas Willow, Bernie & Steve Teba, Adam Tafoya, Mike Tafoya, Fidel Naranjo and Alvin Baca. The family of Alan (Chops) Dale Tafoya has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
