Aileen - Age 61 - San Pedro - Gallegos-Barela

AILEEN E. GALLEGOS-BARELA, 61, a resident of San Pedro, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 following a lengthy illness surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eliseo and Amelia Gallegos; infant brothers, Joseph and Freddy Gallegos; paternal grandparents, Lionides and Benigna Gallegos; maternal grandparents, Federico and Carlota Mascareñas; step-grandmother, Viviana Gonzales; aunt, Adela Montoya and niece, Abigail Gallegos. Aileen retired from the State of New Mexico as a planner. She graduated from Northern New Mexico College with an Associate’s Degree. She enjoyed communicating with her family and friends on a daily basis. She adored her only grandson, Nathaniel Montoya. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Ms. Barela is survived by her daughter, Nina Barela and companion Marcos Montoya of San Pedro; grandson, Nathaniel Montoya; brothers, Manny Gallegos of San Pedro, Eliseo Gallegos, Jr. and wife Irene of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jerry Gallegos and wife Wanda of San Pedro, Eloy Montoya and wife JoAnn of Española and Elizardo Gallegos and mother of his children, Diane Martinez of San Pedro; raised like a sister, Connie Martinez and husband Allen of Los Alamos; niece considered like a daughter, Chantell Gallegos; close friends, Donna and Orlando Herrera of Peña Blañca; close cousin, Chon Jaramillo and wife Pita of Española and Pita Otero and husband Danny of Guachupangue; companion pets, Sierra and Honeyrue and numerous other relatives and friends. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a burial to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. The family of Aileen E. Gallegos Barela has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.\r\n
