Adonais (Don) Serrano

Adonais J. “Don” Serrano , age 86, of Big Rapids Michigan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday July 17, 2018. He was born May 1, 1932 in Youngsville, New Mexico, the son of Aquilino and Raquel (Naranjo) Serrano.

Throughout his life, Don was deeply involved in the community and church. He volunteered extensively and received many awards for his involvement. Over the years he was also involved in different mission boards and volunteering at McCurdy Mission School in New Mexico. Don enjoyed gardening and playing his guitar.

In 1992 Don married Lillian Carr in New Mexico, they moved to Big Rapids Michigan in 2007.

Don is preceded in death by step mother Patriocina Serrano, father Aquilino Serrano, and mother Raquel Naranjo Serrano and wife Lillian. Brothers Antonio and Benicio Serrano.  He is survived by two step-daughters Marty (Mark) Fiting and Maureen Kubitsky, both of Big Rapids Michigan; two sons, Leonard and Patrick Serrano, 3 daughters, Sandra Serrano, Stella Nino, and Lillian Villalobos; two brothers, Gene and Aquilino Jr, four sisters, Viola Morfin, Mary Lou Boies, Delma Fernandez and Inez Gallegos; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews along with other numerous relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Don will be at 11:00am on Friday July 27, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids Michigan, with Pastor Rebecca Morrison officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Cran-Hill Ranch, or McCurdy School in New Mexico through the First United Methodist Church.  A local memorial service will be held August 4, 2018 at the New Hope Church in El Llano at 11am.
