Adelina - Age 82 - Albuquerque/Chimayo - Romero

ADELINA MARIA ROMERO, 82, a resident of Albuquerque and formerly of Chimayo, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sotero Romero; parents, Emiliano and Ramoncita Martinez; uncle and aunt who raised her, George and Frances Chavez; brothers, Benny, Carmen, Eliseo and Vicente Martinez; sisters, Cordelia Marquez and Anslema Pacheco; nephews, Ricky, Tony, Leroy, Ralph and Wilfred Martinez and Harold Pacheco; sister-in-law, Martha Martinez and brother-in-law, Nash Marquez. Adelina was a religious woman and very proudly supported Morada de Nuestro Senor de Esquipula del Santuario. She was a hard worker, an excellent cook and a very loving and caring person and was always willing to offer a helping hand to all her family, friends, neighbors and others in need of help. She adored and raised her loving successful children. Mrs. Romero is survived by her children, Esther Salazar and husband Benny of Taos, Jerry Romero and companion Doreen Campbell of Chimayo and Bessie Duran and husband Eloy of Albuquerque; brother, Ross Martinez and wife Rose of Chimayo; sister-in-law, Tillie Martinez of Chimayo; brother-in-law, Ruben Pacheco of California; former daughter-in-law, Karen Kellovich Borrego and husband Nathan of Pojoaque; grandchildren, Nichole Salazar-Conboy and husband Kevin, Naomi Salazar all of Albuquerque, Joshua and Jeremy Romero of Chimayo and Eloy Duran, Jr. of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Shaylah Conboy as well as numerous other relatives and many friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial to follow at the Potrero Catholic Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers, Joshua and Jeremy Romero, Eloy Duran, Jr., Naomi Salazar, Sammy and Benny Martinez, Johnny Pacheco, Doris Willis, Ross Phil Martinez, Mel Garcia, Benny Vigil and Zach Campbell. The family of Adelina Maria Romero has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
