Adelaida “Lala” Vasquez, 92, a resident of El Rito, NM passed away on Monday, October 1, 2012 in Española. She was one of 3 children born in El Rito, NM to Dionicia Baca Archuleta and Onesimo Archuleta. Lala worked as a Clerk at Martins General Store in El Rito, until she retired. She loved to dance and ride horses. She loved to talk to people and make them smile. Lala was many things to everyone and a friend, confidant, sister, mother and daughter. She had a keen sense of humor and fashion. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leandro Vasquez; mother, Dionicia Baca; father, Onesimo Archuleta; brothers: Filemon and Solomon Archuleta; in-laws: Gregorio and Carlota Vasquez; sisters-in-law: Ernestine Archuleta and Olympia Vasquez; brother-in-law, Pedro Alires. Lala is survived by her daughters: Maxine Ferguson of El Rito, NM, Judy Aragon-Fletcher of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren: Lala Murphy (Wayne) of Henderson, NV, Jody Deknikker, Denine Aragon-Martinez (Bobby) of Albuquerque, NM, Joseph Vigil of Seattle, WA, Krista Vigil of Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren: Theresa Ocaña (Ivan) of El Rito, NM, Donald Ocaña Jr. of Henderson, NV, Nicolette Rivera, James Rivera, Mason Martinez of Albuquerque and Travis DeKnikker; great great-grandchild, Kayden Carroll of Elko, NV; sister-in-law, Veroniz Archuleta and Isabel Alire; cousins: Margaret Lucero and Ernestine Silva; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives & friends. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. A Second rosary will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito with burial to follow at El Rito Catholic Cemetery.
