Adela Romero

Adela Romero, 96, A lifelong resident of Fairview, passed away Tuesday May 19, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Salustiano and Cleofas Maestas; husband Placido Jose Romero; children, Jose Placido Jr., Roberta Lillian, Cleo Mary; grandchildren Sandra Salazar, John Salazar and son-in-law Johnny Salazar. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.  She was an inspiration to her family and respected and loved by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her loving and warm heart, the warmth of her home, her beautiful blue eyes, warm welcoming smile, quilts that she made and gave to family and friends and her love for her family and friends. She leaves her memories to be cherished by her beloved children Neoma Salazar and Erma Romero; grandchildren JoAnn Salazar, Rheanna Romero (Kyle), great-grandchildren Nicole Mascarenas (George), Dereck Salazar (Monica), Curtis Cruz (Cheyenne), Khareena Sandoval; great great-grandchildren; Johnnica Armijo and Melody Mascarenas. Public visitation will begin on Monday, May 25, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a burial to follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers Dereck Salazar, Curtis Cruz, Jose Chavira, Paul Chavez, Harold Bustos, and Kyle Sandoval, honorary pallbearers will be her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, Catholic Daughters of America, Josie Valdez, Celine Maestas Ambercare family and Espanola Valley Nursing and Rehab. The family of Adela Romero has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
