Adela Martinez

ADELA M. MARTINEZ ,70, A resident of Espanola, passed away after a lengthy illness on Sunday August 16, 2020. She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher W. Martinez, parents Margarito and Esquipula Romero; Sisters Isabell Abeyta (Charlie), Laura Vigil (Larry), Frances Cottrell (James), Jenny Archuleta, Mary Stella Archuleta, Brothers, Johnny “Mambo” Romero, Juan Montoya, Horace Montoya.  Adela worked for the Espanola Public Schools for over twenty years while taking care of her parents. She enjoyed raising her two sons and was always a proud mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and going out to eat at various local restaurants. She liked to travel with her companion Dwight Pippin driving throughout northern New Mexico visiting friends and site seeing. Adela loved her dogs and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son Kenneth Martinez (Trisha), granddaughter Amberly Martinez, Grandson Denny Martinez and sister Eva Gurule (Levi) along with several cousins, nephews, nieces, godchildren and friends. The rosary will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at San Juan Parish in Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, with a mass of Christian burial immediately after the rosary. The burial will follow the mass at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery in Velarde, New Mexico. Those who will serve as pallbearers for the family are Amberly Martinez, Denny Martinez, Mario Gurule, Armando Aguilar, Anthony Gallegos, and Jeffrey Padilla.  The family of Adela M.
