ADELA S. MARTINEZ, 91, a resident of Dixon, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016. Adela was preceded in death by her husband Gilberto Martinez; infant son, Alex Martinez; parents, Benjamin and Delmira Atencio; sister, Maria Lopez, brothers, Margarito, Phillip, George and Pedro Atencio; son-in-law, Tony Trujillo. Adela is survived by her daughters, Marcella Trujillo, Rosa Herrera (Johnny), and son, Gilbert Martinez (Elaine); grandchildren, Lucinda Velasquez (Gabriel), Alex Herrera, Lawrence Martinez (Lorrie) and Valerie Herrera, Great-grandchildren, Isaiah Martinez, Michael Velasquez, Nathan Herrera, Isabella Martinez and Iliana Martinez; sisters, Mary Inez Martinez and Ramona Fernandez (Barolin), brother, Carlos Atencio and many other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Taos Living Center where Adela was a resident for several years. A special thank you to nurses Janet and Jenny. Public visitation will begin on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Dixon, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Dixon, with a burial to follow at Dixon Catholic Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers, Alex Herrera, Lawrence Martinez, Gabriel Velasquez, Charlie Fernandez, George Atencio and Henry Atencio, honorary pallbearer will be Tito Sanchez.
