ADELA QUINTANA, born November 10, 1923, in Leadville, CO, to Andres and Sinforosa Maestas, on February 6, 2011, she went to be with our Lord. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Adela was a wonderful Christian mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always set a good example for her family. She was a caring generous person, always concerned about others who were ill or in need. We never went without prayer, she always prayed for her family and everyone she thought needed prayer. Adela will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life Feliciano “Chano” Quintana; son-in-law, Arsenio “Archie” Martinez; granddaughter/Goddaughter, Angela Martinez; grandson, Daniel Cordova; sister, Porfie Fresquez and brothers, David, Oliby and Candido Maestas. Mrs. Quintana is survived by her children; Judy E Martinez, Tillie Perez and husband Art, Marie Castañeda and husband David, Felix Quintana and wife Martha, and Grace Martinez and husband Orlando all of La Puebla, Margie Lucero and husband Robert of Las Vegas, NM, and Clarissa Romero and husband Johnny of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Audrey Garcia (Chris), Annette Archuleta (Jody), Archie Martinez (Angelica), Don Proudstar, David Castañeda (Cristina), of Portland Oregon, Nicole Castañeda, Janis Castañeda (Brad) of Dallas TX, Robert (B.J.) Lucero (Tamarah), Melissa Nguyen (Tony) of San Diego, CA, Adelita and Feliz Quintana, Kristie and Jarred Romero, Orlie Martinez and Gabe Martinez (Michelle); great–grandchildren, Vanessa Garcia (Jeremy), Christopher Garcia (Ashley H.), Ashley and Valerie Archuleta, Celestina, Analisa, and Elias Martinez, Sally, Luz, Mack and Phoebe Castañeda, Natalie Gause and Sydney Gause, and Consuelo Quintana; sister, Louise Esquibel; brothers, Carasiolo “Lolo” (Alice) and Joe Maestas (Martha); sisters-in-law, Nina and Lila Maestas and Isabel Trujillo; special friends, Maria Quintana, Carolina Perez and Linda Trujillo; caregivers, Dorothy Romero, Marcy Vasquez, and Michelle Quintana. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with her grandsons and great-grandson serving as pallbearers, Archie Martinez, Don Proudstar, David Castañeda, Robert (B.J.) Lucero, Gabe Martinez, Jarred Romero, and Christopher Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be the rest of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and God-children. The family request in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association New Mexico Chapter 9500 Montgomery Blvd. NE #121 Albuquerque, N.M. 87111.
