Abedon Trujillo

d. December 3, 2020

Abedon Trujillo, 83, left to his heavenly home on Thursday, December 3, 2020. He passed peacefully at home with his loved ones at his side. Abedon was born to Federico and Clarita Trujillo on March 21, 1937. As a young man, he took great pride in caring for his parents, as his older brothers were in the military and unable to be at home. He made sure they had all they needed to be comfortable and ensured they were taken care of medically.

He was a school bus contractor, barber by trade and was employed by and retired from Rio Arriba County as a heavy equipment operator. His job took him county-wide which allowed him to make life-long friends and always put him in positions where he was able to lend a helping hand. He served as a school board member for the Mesa Vista School District and as a Rio Arriba County Commissioner. He enjoyed ranching, farming, welding, and being a mechanic. As he would say, “I’m a Jack of all trades and a master of none!” He was modest like that, because he could do it all! He was playmate to his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids as they grew up…always joking, making faces, and clowning around. He never failed to give his babies ice cream money.

Abedon was preceded in death by his parents Federico and Clarita Trujillo, his brothers, Daniel, Aurelio Abe, and Ben Trujillo, his sisters, Belinda Trujillo and Secundina Silva, son, William Romero, and grandson, Jason Trujillo.

Abedon is survived by his wife of 54 years, Florinda Trujillo. When they married, they joined their families which consisted of four boys. He is survived by three of them; Greg Trujillo, Gary Trevino, and Robert Romero. He is also survived by his three daughters with Florinda; Karen Trujillo (Michael), Loretta Ortega (Carlos), and Florence Trujillo (Matt). One special sister, Sister Clarita Trujillo, survives him. 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren are his legacy.

He will always be remembered as a man with strong convictions, who wasn’t afraid of hard work, had pride in his family, was a quiet man of faith, friend to all, and playmate.

The family of Abedon Trujillo has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477-www.devargasfuneral.com
