THERESA DURAN, 81, born May 5, 1934, a lifetime resident of Velarde, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 25, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jose E. Duran, Sr.; daughters, Pearl, Lorretta and Sandra Duran; granddaughter, Angel Duran; parents, Salomon and Ascension Olguin; brothers, Elifas Jose, Carlos, and Floriano Olguin; sister, Inez Olguin. Theresa enjoyed reading and spending time with her pets. Most of all she enjoyed sharing time with her family. Theresa had a big heart and always put others before herself. She will be greatly missed. Theresa is survived by her children, Joe Duran, Jr. (Erlinda), Julia Smith, Louann Atencio (Ben), Rose Trujillo (Bernie); grandchildren, Julieanne Herrera (Clarence), Kelly Duran (Trish), Kimberly Lopez (Gabriel), Terri Smith (Randy), Pamela Trujillo (Jeffery), Loretta Smith, Benny Lee Atencio (Jayme), Shawn Atencio, and Annmarie Atencio, Diandra Medina (Aaron); great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremiah, Aubriana, Ezekial, Hezekiah, Miracle, Hope, Makayla, Joey, Jayden, Chantel, Aaron Jr. and Ariana; sisters, Clara Olguin (Andrew), and Anita Martinez (Jose); God-children, Elaine Martinez and Shawn Atencio as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. Public visitation will begin on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. also at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owigeh. Burial to follow at the Loma Vista Cemetery in Alcalde with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Ben Atencio, Bernie Trujillo, Ronnie Olguin, Randy Downey, Gabriel Lopez, Kelly Duran, and Shawn Atencio. Honorary pallbearers, Joshua Lopez, Jeremiah Lopez, Jayden Baker, Hezekiah Herrera, and Joey Floriano, and Ezekial and Aaron Jr. The family would like to thank Casa De Corazon Hospice Care and Presbyterian Home Health Care for all the great care Theresa was given.
