SOFIA CURRY, 84, a resident of Chimayo, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Patricio and Trinidad Pacheco; grandparents that raised her, Sotero and Manuelita Martinez; daughters, Arlene Curry and Lydia Salaz; son-in-law, Ramon Salaz; father and mother in law, James Ezra and Alice Curry; brothers, Ben, Horacio, Ben, Ricardo, Ruben, Daniel and Lito Reynolds; infant sister, Lydia; brothers-and sisters-in-law, Lillian, Mary Melissa Curry, Earl and Roberta Capps, Jack and Rosetta Stewart, Mac Curry; uncles and aunts, Cayetana Jose Leon, Fidel (Ernestina), Esquipula (Trinidad), Romanita (Jose), Antonio (Gregoria), Lucas Reynolds, Porfiria Martinez; nephews, David Gallegos and Danny Pacheco. Mrs. Curry is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Elton W. Curry; daughters, Loretta Caldwell (Bob), Stephanie Martinez (Lucas); grandchildren, Dylan Caldwell, Liberato Salaz (Vivian), Alicia Martinez, Lucas J. Martinez, David Salaz (Brandace); brother, Rubel Pacheco (Emily); sisters, Nora Gallegos (Fred); sisters-in-law, Lucy Pacheco, Rosina Pacheco, Linda Faye Curry and Ramona Pacheco; aunts, Augustina Reynolds and Ramona Martinez; close friends, Dolores Dayhoff, Zorida Martinez, Priscilla Sosaya, Maria Bennie Alires and Yolanda Montoya and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers, Liberato and David Salaz, Lucas Martinez, Veronica Trujillo, Robert Martinez, Ricardo Pacheco. Honorary pallbearers named are, Dylan Caldwell, Angelica Pacheco and all her nieces and nephews.
