Rose Elizabeth Butera
June 9, 1923 – August 7, 2017
Rose Butera passed away on August 7, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her parents Salvatore and Laura Mantione, her two husbands John Giannelli and Charles Butera, and her two sisters and their husbands Josephine and Archie “Pete” Roebuck and Annabel and Floyd “Bob” Schrader.
Rose was born and grew up in The Bronx, NY and later moved to Queens. She loved learning and teaching others what she had learned. Rose also loved crafting and was very active at the local Senior Center. She was a very outgoing and social person who, perhaps above all, loved to feed her family and friends. Rose started working for the Bulova Watch Company during WWII and stayed with the company for over 25 years. After moving to Florida, she worked for a variety of companies including one of the first laser companies to make bar codes for products. In 2007, Rose moved to Los Alamos to be close to her daughter.
Rose is survived by her daughter and her husband Joan and Jay Boudreau, two step-grandchildren and their spouses Kirsten Boudreau and Deke Matthews and Jesse and Johanna Boudreau and their three boys Jonah, Jeremy, and Julian, and seven nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.
Rose’s life will be celebrated at a Rosary and Mass at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos. The Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on August 30th, and the Mass will take place at 10:00 am on August 31st. The Mass will be followed by internment at Guaje Pines Cemetery and a reception at the Karen McLaughlin Parish Hall.
