Robert Montoya

Robert Montoya, 73, a lifelong resident of La Puebla went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 6, 2018. Robert was proceeded in death by his daughter, Estefanita Montoya; parents, Pete and Elvira Montoya; grandson Matthew Montoya and brother James Montoya. Mr. Montoya was a teacher in the Española Valley Schools for 26 years before retiring in 1996 and maintained an active lifestyle after his career including caring for his parents, enjoying classic television, movies, and music, studying the bible, regularly attending church services, and being a grandfather.  Mr. Montoya prided himself on his excellent memory and continued to educate himself after his retirement through reading and researching. Robert loved and kept a watchful eye over all his family often putting their needs before his to ensure everyone was taken care of. He is survived by his son, Pete Montoya III and fiancée Jennifer of La Puebla; wife, Maria of La Puebla; grandson A.J. Trujillo and fiancée Santana of Alcalde, granddaughters Emilia and Marianna Montoya of La Puebla and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a Memorial mass to begin at 11:00 a.m., burial to follow at La Puebla Cemetery.
