Phillip Gomez

PHILLIP C. GOMEZ, 41, a resident of Santa Fe, Formally of Chimayo passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Millie Romero; grandfather Juan Vigil, grandmother Mary Vigil, Uncles; Ross Daniel Gomez, and David Vigil, cousin Toribio (Toby) Vigil.

Phillip was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and friend. Phillip was a kind man with a big heart. His smile was contagious, he loved to joke around. He was a great plumber, carpenter, and mechanic. He loved working on his car, truck, and most of all his Harley Davidson. Whenever you asked him for help, he never said no, or I can’t, he always said “I’ll be right there”. He was always dependable. Phillip’s hobbies included working in the yard, fishing with his family, and riding his Harley. He was very social and could easily make conversation with people from all walks of life. He leaves many with wonderful memories. Phillip was a family man. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews but most of all his kids and wife.  They were his world. He was loved by everyone who knew him and he will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years Sheila R. Montoya; parents, Phillip and Christine Vigil; children, Joshua Gomez (Monica), Isaiah Gomez, and Aviannah Avila; siblings, Chrystal Tarter (Chris), Juan Vigil (Marie), Yvonne Vigil-Marrufo (Manuel J.), Elijah Vigil (Darla), and Annabelle Vigil; grandparents, Annabelle Tafoya (Larry), Ross Gomez; mother-in-law, Liz Rougemont (Danny); father-in-law, Gerald Montoya (Eleanor); brothers-in-law, Ezequiel Montoya (Eric), and Karl Rougemont (Alejandra); sister-in-law, Amber Rougemont (Patrick) and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and relatives.

Public visitation will begin on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Victory Faith Church in Espanola.   Private burial services will be held.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Joshua Gomez, Juan Vigil, Elijah Vigil, Chris Tarter, Manuel J. Marrufo, Hilario (Larry) Devargas, Ezequiel Montoya, and Karl Rougemont.  Honorary Pallbearers named are Phillip Vigil, Aviannah Avila, Isaiah Gomez, Patrick Ortiz, Anthony Romero, and Eric Romero.
