NESTOR MARTINEZ, 77, a lifelong resident of Alcalde, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benancio and Lugarda Martinez; father and mother-in-law, Emedardo and Sofia Lopez; daughter, Janelle Martinez and husband Joseph; son, Nestor Martinez Jr., daughter-in-law, Lorianne Martinez, granddaughter who was like a daughter to him, Robin Martinez; sister, Toni Trujillo and husband Joe; brothers-in-law, Rosendo Padilla and Mike Salazar, sister-in-law, Carrie Lopez. Nestor was a loving husband, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. He was a plumber by trade and was always quick with a joke. He always had a way to make you smile. Nestor is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sylvia Martinez of Alcalde; daughter, Susan Maestas and husband Joe of Las Vegas, NV, son Eugene Martinez of Alcalde; grandsons, Joseph Martinez Jr. and wife RoseMary, Eugene Martinez Jr. and companion Dinah, granddaughter, Monica Martinez, daughter-in-law, Kathy Martinez, great-grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, Elijah Trujillo, Janelle Martinez, Sebastian and Lucianna Martinez and Bently Martinez; sister, Roseanna Padilla, brothers and sisters-in-law, Horace and Fred Lopez, Lala Trujillo (Juan), Aurelia Fernandez (Juan) and Delfinia Salazar, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Nestor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh, with a mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at a later date.
