NATHANIEL A. MONTOYA, 26, a resident of Truchas, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. He was preceded in death by his infant uncle, Adam Montoya; great-grandparents, Desiderio and Elena Romero, Nabor and Delmiria Montoya, grandparents, Donald and Hope Lopez. Nathaniel enjoyed the mountains, he loved riding his dirt bikes and ATVS. He loved the smell of wood, Nathaniel was a very friendly person who could make friends and start a conversation with someone he just met. He was a very caring, loving and respectful person with a big heart. He loved and cared for his family deeply. Nathaniel will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his mother, Lisa Montoya; sisters, Stephanie and Autumn Martinez; grandparents,  Elizardo and Martina Montoya; aunts, Karen, Jennifer, and Kimberly Montoya all of Truchas; close cousins, Jacque, Anthony, Angel, Monica, Chris, Jaiedyn, Caleb and Kacen; father, Leonard Lopez; uncle, Donnie Lopez, aunt, Sandra Abeyta-Lopez and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Nathaniel’s family would like to thank Louie Sandoval for his efforts in directing Nathaniel onto a better path. Public visitation will begin Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a Rosary to be recited at 11:30 a.m. a Devotional Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Los Llanitos Cemetery in Truchas.  Serving the family as pallbearers, Anthony Montoya, Steve Martinez, Phillip Montoya, Jesse Romero, Rayben Sandoval Jr., Steven Trujillo, Julian Martinez and Miguel Escarcega, honorary pallbearers, his sisters, Stephanie and Autumn Martinez, cousin, Jacque Montoya, and Rocky Trujillo.  The family of Nathaniel has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477-www.devargasfuneral.com
