Mary Vasquez

MARY VASQUEZ, 97, went to be with our Lord in Heaven on Saturday, June 29, 2019 in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, and husband Benigno Vasquez. She was born on August 2, 1921 in La Placita, NM. Her parents were Eliseo and Alcarita Lujan. Mary was raised by her grandparents Juan Jose and Marianita Baca. Mary was an avid fan of the Penasco boys’ and girls’ basketball teams. She attended all the home games and followed them to all the out of town games. She was very active with the church and a member of the Guadalupana’s at San Antonio de Padua Church. Mary is survived by her son Eufelio Vasquez and wife Rosellen; granddaughter Eva Vasquez, grandson, Benigno Vasquez and wife Tasha; four great-grandsons, Laz Romankiw, J. Martinez, Trulen Vasquez and Cirilo Vasquez. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Penasco, with a rosary to be recited at 11:00 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Benigno Vasquez, Eva Vasquez, Laz Romankiw, J Martinez, Adelina Romero and David Sandoval, honorary pallbearers will be Eliseo Gurule, Trulen Vasquez, Cirilo Vasquez, and Eugenio Arellano.
