Dr. Mark Anthony Mathews, 74, a resident of Los Alamos, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 due to MS related causes. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary Mathews and brother Karl Mathews. Dr. Mark Mathews was an avid outdoorsman and a hunter. He collected clocks and loved to use his hands to build many different projects. He was a passionate geophysicist committed to his work. He worked with nuclear energy and contributed to numerous scientific publications and professional journals. He was very proud of his involvement in the Glasnost. He is survived by his wife, Edwina Mathews of Los Alamos, his son, Stan Mathews (Martha) of Albuquerque, loving brother and sisters, grandsons, Robert Mathews and Andrew Candelaria, granddaughter, Alexandra Candelaria, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Public visitation for Dr. Mark Anthony Mathews are to be held on Tuesday April 5, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in White Rock, NM. Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 a.m. and with a burial to follow at Guaje Pines in Los Alamos, NM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please donate to the MS Society of New Mexico.
