Lucas Martinez

Lucas D. Martinez, age 21, a resident of La Mesilla, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Efren and Corrina Martinez of La Puebla; paternal grandparents, Juan Pedro and Refugio Martinez of Ojo Sarco. Lucas had a passion for the great outdoors, ranching, fishing, hunting, camping and he loved driving “little red”, his Toyota twisted 4x4. He was a hard worker, a loving person, with a heart of gold. He greeted everyone with a smile and a hug. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He touched the lives of many with his uplifting humorous personality which will be deeply missed. Lucas is survived by his parents, Damian and Angela Martinez of La Mesilla; sisters, RowAnne and Angelique Martinez of La Mesilla; three very special nieces, Lysha Martinez, Jade Chavez and Emma Fresquez, as well as numerous   loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 10:30a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow at the Ojo Sarco Community Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be, Benito “BJ” Martinez, James “Jamio” Martinez, Allen Vasquez, Adam Martinez, Jesse James Fresquez and Lorenzo Chavez. Honorary pallbearers will be, Uncle Ben, Daniel Fresquez, and Tony “TJ” Martinez. The family of Lucas D. Martinez has entrusted the care of their beloved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
