JOSE ADRIAN ARCHULETA, 83, a resident of Velarde, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 18, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife Teresita Irene Archuleta; maternal grandparents, Jesus and Epimenia Campos; paternal grandparents, Elias and Maximiana Archuleta; parents, Vicente and Deluvina Archuleta; father and mother-in-law, Jose Elario and Carolina Montoya; sister, Elva Herrera; brothers, Vicente Archuleta, Jr., Amadeo Archuleta and Joe Archuleta. Jose was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, son and friend. He was a man with a heart of gold who loved his family dearly. He was a talented craftsman who enjoyed woodcarving and pottery. He loved the outdoors, especially picking piñon and was always trying to find something to keep him busy after he retired. Mr. Archuleta is survived by his children, Theresa Coffeen (Norman), Angela Parrott (Jayce), Brenda Abeyta (Victor) and Adrian Archuleta (Jim); grandchildren, Mark Coffeen (Beverly), April Coffeen, Cielo Chacon, Rhiannon Jaramillo, Luke Parrott (Christine), Jason Abeyta, Felicia Abeyta (Ty) and Emily Abeyta (Nicholas); special great-grandson who he helped raise, Kyle Coffeen; great-grandchildren, Kevin, Cody and Caylee Coffeen, Antonio, Nicholas and Julian Chacon, Damian Diaz, Vicente Abeyta and a great-grandchild who he was excited to meet; siblings, Elias Archuleta (Claudina), Ida Montoya, and Eliza Jaramillo; sister-in-law, Alice Salazar; brother-in-law, Ruben Salazar (Viola) and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends whom he loved dearly. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde. Burial to follow at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery in Velarde with the following serving as pallbearers, Mark and Kyle Coffeen, Luke Parrott, Jason Abeyta, Cielo Chacon, and Ruben Salazar, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be all his great-grandchildren and Kevin Gallegos. The family would like to give a special thank you to CNS nursing staff, Jolene Grasso, Cathy LaBelle, nurse Lynn Maestas, Del Corazon staff for their loving and compassionate care, El Centro Health staff, Dr. Bjorklund and Linda Gallegos.  The family of Jose Adrian Archuleta has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
