Joe A. Suazo passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at the age of 80.  He was born on November 13, 1939 to Francisquita and Estiben Suazo. Joe lived in Barranco most of his life. He also lived in Sacramento, California in the early 1970s he was employed by the Campbell Soup Company. He returned to Barranco (Abiquiu) where he was also employed by the Forest Service for a number of years.  He and his wife Clara established the Suazo Bus Service, Inc. where he bussed school children for the remainder of his professional life.  After his retirement, he enjoyed his daily routine of supervising jobs at the Suazo Ranch.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Candelaria Lopez.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Clara Suazo, three daughters Yvette Harrison and husband Royal, Suzette Braden and husband Dennis, Janette Suazo, and his son Joseph Suazo and wife Karen. Joe and Clara raised their granddaughter Janice Suazo.  He also enjoyed special relationships with his granddaughters Samantha LaCock, Katelyn Suazo and his grandson Nathaniel Suazo.  His other grandchildren are Derek Harrison, Blaine Maestas, Jeremy Apodaca, Aliya Harrison, Tayler and Megan Suazo.  Great grandchildren are Blaine III, Alexis, Aryana, Aria, Ryker, Jaelyn, and Johnny.  Joe also had a very special first cousin Pete Martinez.  He shared a special bond with his nephew Stevie Lopez and his nieces Frances Gallegos and Pita Lopez.

Services will be held at St. Thomas Apostle Catholic Church in Abiquiu, New Mexico. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, June 16th, 2020 at 6:00 PM and the funeral mass will be on Wednesday, June 17th, 2020 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery in Abiquiu.

Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Braden, Stevie Lopez, Jake Martinez, Jeremy Apodaca, Adriano Duran, and Nathaniel Suazo.

Ushers will be Derek Harrison, Blaine Maestas, Tayler and Megan Suazo.  Royal Harrison will deliver the eulogy. The family of Joe A. Suazo has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477-www.devargasfuneral.com
