Jimmy Chavez

Jimmy “Uncle Jim” Chavez - Born March 8, 1963 in Santa Fe, passed away suddenly on December 12, 2017. He was a gentle soul who cherished his family deeply and will be missed by all who knew him.  Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ramon and Tillie Chavez; brother, Sam Chavez and his sister Mary Alice Chavez.  He is survived by his children, Jacob Felix, Jessica Harmon (Marc), and Justin Chavez (Autumn); grandchildren, Mason and Presley; brothers and sisters; Faustin (Dolores) Chavez, Andy Chavez, Eddie (Betty) Chavez, Patricia (John) Matchison, Theresa Chavez, Anna Bell (Jim) Hesch, Jeannette Chavez (Luis), and Linda Anaya; Godchildren, Vanessa Coriz and Alexa Chavez, and many nieces and nephews who loved him unconditionally. Jimmy’s love for his family and friends was unparalleled.  He was a gifted carpenter and a cowboy at heart who built many beautiful things and was always willing to share his expertise. A special thank you to our dear friend, Annabelle Martinez and her family who went above and beyond to be there for Jimmy.  A rosary will be recited on Saturday, December 16th,, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz.  Burial will follow at the Galisteo Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Ricardo Chavez, Ron Martinez, Mark Cardenas,  Luis Lopez and Victor Mondragon. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the love and support they have received during this difficult time. The family of Jimmy “Uncle Jim” Chavez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
