Jennie Montoya

Jennie Montoya, age 97, of Truchas, NM, went home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Efren Montoya; parents, Hijinio and Manuelita Gonzales; three sisters, Dora Gallegos, Mary Gallegos, Florence Aragon; and two brothers, Joe Gonzales and Henry Gonzales. Jennie devoted her life as a loving mother and grandmother. She was known for her generosity and giving nature. Whether you visited Jennie at her home or the nursing home, she made sure you left with something in your hand. She enjoyed a good conversation and connecting with people. She made many friends and cared for others in her long life journey. Jennie was loved by her entire family and will be dearly missed. 
She is survived by her six sons: Donald (Blanca), Bobby (Fabiola), Carlos (Lucille), David (Marina), Arthur, and Jerry (Marlene); grandchildren: Ronnie, Jennie, Cynthia, Carlos, Roberta, Marcia, Renee, Marvin, Janeen, Cheryl, Trisha, Jason, Toby, and Michelle, also several great- grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, and two sister-in-laws, Floy Fuentes and Cristina Montoya. Public visitation will begin at 6:30 pm on Sunday, May 20, 2018 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory in Española, NM. With a rosary follow at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Truchas, NM. Burial to follow at Los Llanitos Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Marvin Montoya, Jason Montoya, Toby Montoya, Ronald Herrera, Eddie Lopez, and Abie Gallegos. The family would like to thank the staff at Española Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation and AmberCare for taking such good care of Jennie.
