James A. Naranjo, 54, a resident of Santa Clara Pueblo, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 26, 2016. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Naranjo and brother, Frank Naranjo, Jr.; his mother-in-law, Helen Gutierrez, father-in-law, Frankie V. Gutierrez and nephew, Jeremy Naranjo; brother-in-law, Frank “Chipper” Gutierrez.
He was an employee of the Los Alamos National Laboratory. On his days off he enjoyed working outdoors, hunting, fishing, and being out in the mountains of Santa Clara Pueblo Canyon. He was a very active member of Santa Clara Pueblo. He was a very friendly and loyal person and helped anyone he could without hesitation. Being a football player in high school, he loved the sport and loved watching his favorite team, the Pittsburg Steelers. He enjoyed watching his daughters play sports and attending volleyball and softball games. Most of all he just loved spending time with his family.

Mr. Naranjo is survived by his wife of 31 years, Angela Carol Naranjo of Santa Clara Pueblo; daughter, Paulina Naranjo and companion Jonathon Tafoya and expectant grandchild; daughter, Helena Naranjo of Santa Clara Pueblo; father, Frank Naranjo, Sr. of Santa Clara Pueblo; sister, Stephanie Naranjo of Santa Clara Pueblo; sisters-in-law, Kathy Naranjo and husband Ernest, Geraldine Gutierrez and companion John Hoye, Ann Gutierrez and companion Rob Nichols, and Rose Suazo and husband Charles; sister-in-law, Jeannie Gutierrez, brother-in-law, George Gutierrez and companion Dorea Garcia, his five God-children, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at the family home of James and Angela Carol Naranjo with a wake and rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at the Santa Clara Pueblo Catholic Church. Burial to follow at the Santa Clara Pueblo Cemetery.
