Gilbert Torrez

Gilbert Torrez, age 79, a lifelong resident of Cordova, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Gilbert was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Torrez; parents, Remegio and Adelia Torrez; In-laws, Pedro and Refugio Martinez; siblings, Adelido and Polito Torrez, Isabel Sanchez and Floy Medart. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife of 57yrs, Erlinda Torrez; children, Annette Blackburn (Mike), Gilbert Torrez, Jr. (Susan), Jackie Torrez (Loretta), Lisa Torrez companion Dennis, Brenda Maestas; grandchildren, Alonzo Trujillo, Gilbert Torrez III and companion Margaret, Heather Torrez and companion Mike, Justin Salazar-Torrez (Deserae), Mindy Trujillo, Ambrosia Blackburn, Danielle Torrez and companion Charles, Robert Blackburn, Gerald Torrez Jr., Santiago Naranjo and Josiah LaMonda; great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Lynette, Adrian, Ezekiel, Lilly, Greyson, Marissa, Aryah, Xavier, Aubrey and Mila; siblings, Juliana Cooper, Clorida Sanchez (Arturo), Betty Torrez and companion Vicente, Susie Cordova, Belinda Roybal (Delbert), Cathy Cordova, Rowdy Torrez (Victoria) and Lawrence Torrez (Nina); as well as other loving in-laws, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A second rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial to follow at the Cordova Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers,  Alonzo Trujillo, Gilbert Torrez III, Justin Salazar-Torrez, Gerald Torrez, Charles Romero and Dennis Padilla. The family of Gilbert Torrez has entrusted the care of their beloved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
