A. GILBERT CATANACH, 82, a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 18, 2015. He was preceded in death by his son: Walter Scott Catanach; parents: Frank and Angelita Catanach; baby sister: Priscilla Catanach; brother: Frank B. Catanach; sister: Charlotte Cunningham; brother-in-law: Ted Legits and in-laws: Max and Georgia Vigil. Mr. Catanach was involved in many civic and service organizations including: President of the Alumni Association of the College of Santa Fe and was a member of La Sociedad Colonial Española de Santa Fe. He was the Exalted Ruler for the Elks Lodge #460 and he was president of the New Mexico Chapter of Public Accountants. He graduated from St. Michael’s College of Santa Fe in 1955. Mr. Catanach is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha Catanach; children: Claire Catanach, Elaine Pacheco and husband Anthony, Brian Catanach and wife Sherilene, Brad Catanach and wife Judith; sister: Annie Legits; grandchildren: Keith and Troy Pacheco, Ariel Georgia, Ian, Max and Irick Catanach; in-laws: Robin Catanach, Michael Cunningham, Max Vigil and wife Frances, Gilbert Vigil, Clyde Vigil, Pita Otero and husband Danny, Manuel Vigil, Fred Vigil, Rosina Lettre and husband Marcel and numerous other loving nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Santa Fe, with a memorial mass to follow at 1:30 p.m. Interment to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to the Carmelites Monastery in Santa Fe. The family of A. Gilbert Catanach has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
